2019 Gothia Cup

In 2019 we will embark on one of the most exciting ventures in the club's history, when we travel to Gothenburg Sweden to take part in the girls U16's division of the Gothia Cup.

Known as the World Youth Cup, the Gothia Cup started in 1975, and since that first tournament almost 1 million players from 146 countries have participated in the competition, so we are incredibly proud that we will be the first ever female team from Western Australia to take part in this prestigious event.

Our involvement in the Cup is due to the very generous support of the Swedish Women's Educational Association. SWEA  approached us in March 2018 to see if we would be interested in accepting their offer of a sponsorship, which would cover the costs associated with playing in the tournament.

SWEA are involved in promoting the Swedish culture and language both here in Perth and worldwide, and saw the Gothia Cup as an ideal way of introducing young Perth female soccer players to the Swedish culture.

In addition to SWEA, we have secured the generous support of Candy People, Search Smart and Bars&More.

We will be sending a squad of 16 players, plus coaches Ali McMurdo and Shane Atkins and manager Tim Hodgson, to Gothenburg and they will play in the tournament from July 14th - July 20th. We wish all the players and coaching staff the very best of luck, and we are sure they will be wonderful ambassadors for the club and female soccer in Western Australia.
