About Northern Redbacks

The Redbacks were the sole women's and girls only soccer club in WA playing at NPLW level, and therefore were able to focus exclusively on the growth and development of female football players.

Over the course of the club's history, we turned out numerous players who have represented the state, played in the W-League and even played for the Matildas. We're extremely proud to also see two former Redbacks players coaching overseas in the Italian Women's Serie A and the English FA Women's Super League.

We're also proud of the achievements of our junior players who have represented the club in tournaments in Australind, Bunbury, Kalgoorlie and Gothenburg, Sweden.

The final ever season was in 2022, when the NPLW team took out the NPLW Night Series Trophy beating Balcatta Etna 4-2 after extra time with Carla Bennett being awarded the Tracey Wheeler Player of the Match Award.

This final ever game capped off a remarkable era as a female-only club and we now look forward to a new chapter in our history as we become Perth RedStar FC.
